So who the heck am I to write up a guide for other people to use? I'm a graduate from a top-thirty university, with a degree in American Studies and journalism. I'm a quasi-professional editor (it's a long story) and a published writer at a small magazine in New York. I love writing, both fanfic and original.

Furthermore, I love reading other people's writing and talking about it. Heck, I love talking about writing in general, but I don't always have the time to do so. So this is really just another way to talk about what I love, and to point out things that make me totally insane in a lot of the writing I see online. Hopefully, it'll help.

If you want to see how my writing is to judge for yourself if I have a right to be self-righteous like this, all of my Newsies-related writing is right here. Furthermore, you're welcome to read any of my original works, posted at queenitsy.com; the only disclaimer I give is that some of them are older than others, and I ask you to judge by what's newer, not older. Like everyone else, I got better at writing just by sticking with it.

Anyway. I can't say that I'm the most experienced writer or the best writer out there—I'm not. I'm merely someone who can tell the difference between good, mediocre and bad writing, and wants to help the general quality of online writing improve. In a land without editors, this is all I can do.
