Is this thing still on?

Wow, I go on vacation and the whole place gets cobwebby.

And now: Random linkage [or: Rachel Can't Sleep]

If you don't read lowculture you should definitely give it a looksee; if nothing else, they have a fabulous feature called "unintentionally hilarious photo of the moment" which is always good. It's half political mockery (and it's mean, which is how I like it) and half pop-culture mockery (which is also mean). Their mock-up of Karl Rove's biography-to-be, over Dave Egger's cover, reading "A Nation-Breaking Mess of Staggering Incompetence" is brilliant, and their mockery of Bill O'Reilly is not to be missed.

Jessica Alba is going to play Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four movie. I know, I'm weeks behind reporting this, but I was in Oklahoma, for Christ's sake; they don't have news there. Just guys in cowboy hats, and the occasional armadillo. Anyway, this (and X-Men) was the one comic title I read regularly for a couple of years. Yeah, Sue was a whiner and a 50's mother prototype, but by Jesus, she deserves better than Jessica Alba. Plus, she's blond. That's practically her entire character description. I read during the "Reed is dead, no really!" years, when she kicked a lot of ass, but she was still blond. Damn it, Jessica Alba! With blond hair, you just look more like a dirty whore. I hate you, and I hate the many many episodes of Dark Angel I sat through in Japan.

The Bourne Supremacy comes out this week. I am THIS excited. I loved the first movie, I love Matt Damon, and I want this movie to be good. I really, really really really really do. Really. I spent 4 hours in the Phoenix airport reading Entertainment Weekly articles about it. How cute is this:

"...[Damon] launches into an apologetic explanation of why he's an hour late (which has already been prefaced by two phone calls of apologies and explanations). He was due at the dubbing stage in midtown, but the car that was supposed to take him never came. So he hailed a cab and went to the address he'd been given, only to find there was no one there. Because he's never gotten around to owning a cell phone, he went next door to Kinko's and asked to borrow their phone to find out where he was supposed to be, and then, because they were nice enough to let him use their phone, he ran and bought them all coffee before going to the proper address."
That is just so fucking cute.

More later, when I remember what the hell I was going to talk about.
