Once they vaccuumed the turf at skydome

The Montreal Expos are now the D.C.... Somethings! They don't have a new franchise name yet, and the new stadium won't be built for four more years, but that's okay. 33 years after the Senators left, D.C.'s going to have baseball again! The national passtime in the national capitol. Makes sense to me.

My love'll make you be like 'whoa!'

Y'all, UPN has two shows worth watching! I waited out two episodes to be sure, but Gwen confirmed my suspicion; Veronica Mars is actually really good. I mean, Paris Hilton was in the second episode, and it still didn't suck! Do you know what kind of positive charge something has to have to negate the black hole of awful that is Paris Hilton?

Anyway, the show is a film-noir-in-high-school-with-snark thing, sort of Twin Peaks meets 90210 meets Buffy. And it's genuinely really fun to watch! This is awesome news, since there is absolutely nothing else I've tuned in to this season which has pleased me at all.

(The other good UPN show, natch, is America's Next Top Model, but I have motherfucking class Wednesday nights at 8, so I can never, ever watch it again. Or Lost. Or anything else fun. Stupid grad school.)

Veronica Mars! Tuesday nights! Be there, suckas!

Seriously, he's 7 feet tall

You know which late night man's not funny at all? Jay Leno. Never has been, never will be.

You know which late night man isfunny? (Okay, the obvious answer here is Jon Stewart, but go with me.) Conan! C'mon, back in the days when we were young and could stay up until holy-fuck-I-have-class-tomorrow o'clock, he was awesome! I have it on good faith he's still pretty darned good.

That's why I'm so glad he's taking over for Leno in 2009. There's been this big shake-up being threatened for months and months now, and while I was busy doing the "Yay no more Kilborne, Yay!!" dance, someone noticed how god-awful Leno is. Good for you, NBC henchmen! Now, go and find a halfway decent show for Rob Lowe, and we'll be back on speaking terms.

Dystopian indeed

Oh dear Lord. They're making Terminator 4, and without even the Governator.

I have such mixed feelings on this. I mean, I liked the third movie. I did. I appreciated that it felt like a Terminator movie even without James Cameron, and the action sequences featured absolutely no bullet time. And I liked the way the story played out; the ending was extremely well done. And I have a bit of a crush on John Connor, but then, I get crushes very easily.

The problem was that making a third (and fourth) movie utterly invalidates the message of the first and second movies... Okay, so there wasn't much of a message to the first other than that Linda Hamilton had bad, bad hair; but it was kind of implied. But the second one made it blindingly clear in a kid-friendly manner, featuring a cameo from Budnik. And if you don't know what that last sentance meant, that's not my fault.

But the point is, the moral of the story was that there was no sort of fate, and people's choices could affect the future. Doing the right thing can prevent the apocalypse.

Except that by virtue of the third movie's existance, that message, as cheesy a moral as it was, is totally gone. Because the apocalypse happened anyway. Damn it!

Ah, well. It's still better than the sequals to The Matrix.
