We don't think so; you seem star shaped

Any fans of old-school Blur out there by any chance? I'm talking pre-Parklife-still-scruffy-living-on-Graham's-floor-drunk-and-in-debt Blur. Back in the days of Leisure and Modern Life is Rubbish, Blur made a concert-footage tape called Starshaped, which featured the band playing live, screaming at each other, and being incredibly drunk. And now it's been rereleased -- in Region 1 this time -- with extended footage from other live performances at the Killburn National Ballroom and Princess Charlotton. Whatever that means.

Wait, I know what that means; more young pretty drunk Blur! Now, why on earth do you suppose my local Tower Records doesn't have this DVD? Blasphemy!

Softly softly kill a monkey

I could kill a monkey!

Sorry, got distracted there. I have evangelized The Office here before, I believe. Now the Christmas Special is finally being shown in the US on October 21st, making this October 'Month Of Good Cable TV' (and baseball playoffs), what with Peacekeeper Wars also being on.

I, however, don't get BBC America. I went to TV Shows On DVD to find out when 21 Jump Street comes out (October 26th) and discovered that the Christmas Special will be out on DVD November 16th. Hurrah!

Even better, the "features" listed for the DVD includes a "Making Of" and "Music Clip" for the "Freelove Freeway" single. If you haven't seen The Office, that means nothing to you at all, but if you have, then right now you are bobbing your head slightly and mumbling "Free love on the free love freeway... She's gonnnnnnne!" ("She's deaaaaaad!" "She's not dead!") I am almost more excited for the "Making Of 'Freelove Freeway' single" feature than the Christmas Special. And that's pretty darned excited, I tell you what.

Claudia Black!!

Y'all, Claudia Black is cheating on Farscape. I know Peacekeeper Wars is coming out (this month ohmygodeeeee!!!) but she's apparently just wrapped filming on an episode of Stargate SG-1.

Pretend for a moment you're not surprised to learn that fucking show is still on. I, meanwhile, will pretend I have not spent the last three weeks of my school counseling seminar writing an increasingly lengthy treatise entitled Farscape Vs. Stargate: How To Make A Television Scifi Show Compelling, Exciting, Character-Driven And Heart Wrenching (In Other Words, How Not To Write Stargate). I think at last count I had a list of 37 ways Farscape is superior, along with detailed analyses of why. No, I don't need a life. Yes, I do need a new notebook for that class.

Anyway, at least Claudia Black has a job. She's one of my Big Three; the triumverate of actresses on television who kick ass, with Felicity Huffman and Allison Janney being the other two. And at least she had the sense to star in an episode where she gets to play a bad guy (black leather, anyone?) and beat the crap out of Michael Shanks, who is very pretty, and has a lot of practice looking pretty while people on this show smack the hell out of him.
""Vala was a lot of fun," Black said in an interview. "I did my best to beat the daylights out of Michael Shanks, and he was a very good sport. She's sassy. She's intelligent. She's manipulative. She's very hard and mercurial. She does what she has to [to] survive, so it's very hard to tell what the real core of Vala is, and I'm hoping that if they do write her back in again that that will be explored.""
